A Scarred and Mismanaged Landscape?
The map below is colour coordinated to show when various areas of Millersford Plantation and Turf Hill were felled based on aerial mapping from 1985 up to 2022. Text notes in black reflect what is currently growing in each area on 22/01/2023. Areas shaded in purple indicate successful heathland restoration.
The map below from the Forestry Commission website shows Felling Licences pre-May 2018. Note that no licences are shown for the areas within Millersford Plantation and Turf Hill Inclosure felled prior to 2018. The Forestry Commission grants tree felling licences, so they would be both applying for and granting permissions.
